Donald Trump is having a rough ending to his week

Donald Trump is having a very rough ending to his week. He is not taking it well. It is going so poorly that he wrote an essay-length rant on social media, and I am perfectly fine with that. Anything that keeps him distracted and prevents him from making any sort of real executive decisions is a net positive for the country. A federal judge has ordered that Donald Trump’s name must be removed from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The judge also temporarily blocked the Center's closure for renovations scheduled to begin in July. Only Congress can change the name, and, believe it or not, Trump did not receive congressional approval to add his name alongside Kennedy’s. The audacity for Trump to imagine his legacy is going to be a positive one in respect to John F. Kennedy is ludicrous. Ever since the name-change nonsense and Trump being named chair of the board of the performing arts center, over 2 dozen artists, musicians, and other acts have canceled their scheduled performances.

A second round of bad news crossed Trump’s desk as another federal judge temporarily halted the Trump “anti-weaponization” slush fund. The ruling stated, “The Trump administration cannot take any further action on the fund while legal motions are pending, which includes the transferring of money to the fund; consideration of any claims submitted to the fund; and the disbursing of any funds from the fund.” (NBC) My hope is that Congress and prosecutors will take these next two weeks to organize a real opposition to kill this absurd slush fund. The lack of oversight, the lack of transparency, and the potential rewarding of violent criminals who attempted to overthrow the government on January 6th should be more than enough evidence to combat this. Since blanket pardoning all of the approximately 1,500 insurrectionists, over 30 of them have gone on to re-offend with crimes such as assault, kidnapping, child molestation, and rape. Donald Trump is tough on crime, though, you know? Clearly.

In the final round of bad news for President Trump, a large chunk of artists slated to perform in DC in celebration of America’s 250th birthday have canceled their performances. It is hard to say they canceled their performances when several artists claim they did not even know they were scheduled to perform. Only a handful of acts remain. While many others backed out due to the aforementioned not knowing they were scheduled, some artists were invited on the premise that this would be a non-partisan event, but it has devolved from that.

It is difficult to feel any sense of patriotism as over ten million people will lose their healthcare over the next ten years, families are being ripped out of their homes and workers from their businesses or places of employment, and violently mistreated by ICE over civil infractions, the vast majority of American families continue to struggle financially, and we have started another illegal forever war in the Middle East. Maybe America’s 300th birthday bash will be held in a more positive and productive societal and governmental structure with actual apparatus to feel patriotic about.
